AND, the donor with the highest bid takes the chocolate cheesecake home!

In support of COIPP, Anne is auctioning off her home-made chocolate cheesecake! According to our Executive Director, Shari, this is one of the BEST cheesecakes around. :) The donor with the highest donation by March 31st will take the cake. I will coordinate delivery details with the winner.

Information about COIPP ...

Frederick County statistics on parental incarceration are alarming. Even during COVID, a time when jails were often emptier than in the past, the numbers are a cause for concern.

In September, 2021, 127 people were admitted to the Frederick County Detention Center; 71 of them had a total of 127 minors. Each month numbers are similar. There are also many parents serving sentences in prisons across the state and country. Once a parent is incarcerated, the poverty rate for the family usually goes up. Most importantly, these children already have experienced one Adverse Childhood Experience (ACEs) indicator, and often have many others, such as familial mental illness, abuse and neglect, and other household challenges.

COIPP's programs and services work to intentionally mitigate and reduce the negative impact of their trauma. COIPP is committed to develop, evaluate, and adjust programming to meet children's needs.

We will use the funds raised during the Unity Campaign to support current and new activities including:

* Support for Sharing Fairs: Your support will increase the number of items offered as well as expand the collection of items to include boots and coats. Items include basic human necessities such as diapers, laundry detergent, soap, etc.  Additionally, your support ensures that these items are safely secured and stored in between our bi-monthly Sharing Fairs.

*Expansion of our children's book library to include new and diverse topics.

*Increase of our FCC scholarships for caregivers, those who have been in jail/prison and older children. With your help, COIPP would like to expand our scholarships to possibly add opportunities for scholarships to four year colleges and technical schools.

* Provide funds for children's attendance at extracurricular activities (ie: sport leagues, theatre, arts) and local summer camps

*Expansion of Educational Resource Boxes for families, organized around a theme that are hands-on, educational and interactive.

*Increased purchase of meaningful resources for children that are distributed at caregiver workshops.

* Provide increased resources for both caregivers and children during our monthly caregiver respite meetings.

Your gift today will have an immediate impact on children in our community. Your gift builds resilience and hope. Thank you for your consideration!
