The Unity Campaign for Frederick County
City Youth Matrix connects at-risk kids to extracurricular activities. We remove barriers by paying the fees, and providing transportation and interpreters as needed.
In addition, we empower our families. We hold monthly workshops and hikes so our families can enjoy a meal and fun activity together and we host a quarterly dinner where all our families share a meal and a special activity or presentation.
Our funding comes from grants and donations. We partner with local businesses – who provide the extracurricular programming for our kids. We’re able to negotiate the fees to stretch our donated dollars so we can serve more children, and at the same time support our local enrichment partners and the local economy.
We are creating a new initiative to help raise additional funds and build community, Buckets of Hope 2.0. This is a partnership with our donors and community supporters, along with other child-centered community nonprofits. The Unity Campaign funds will help CYM launch this project and in addition, help us to place more local children in extracurricular classes and activities wih local enrichment program providers.
