Because we believe in economic justice, Justice Jobs helps people with barriers to employment get a job, keep that job, and move up to better jobs. Since 2018, we have helped more than 250 people get hired and stay hired, with a job retention rate over 70% at six months after hire. These are people like Rico, who started out on a loading dock and now manages a regional Aldi's warehouse!

Because we believe in economic justice or fairness, Justice Jobs of Maryland helps people with barriers to employment to get jobs, keep those jobs, and move up to better jobs, with the aim of achieving a living wage within 2 to 3 years. To do that, Justice Jobs runs a free employment office and retention service in downtown Frederick.

Our services are available to anyone, and our jobseekers self-select for our services. The vast majority come to us experiencing barriers to employment, especially recent bouts with substance use disorder (SUD) and recent incarceration. Our motivation is our belief in economic justice, which we define as equal access to jobs for all people, regardless of barriers to employment. A core value is that every person, no matter their background, capacity or circumstance, can contribute meaningfully to society, provided the opportunity and nurture to do so. A job provides an important meaningful contribution, so we offer a path for anyone who needs "a leg up" to overcome barriers to employment.

At Justice Jobs, we believe enabling people to solve their own problems permanently and at higher and higher levels promotes true transformation of people's lives, as in the end the successful jobseeker builds a career and their own success story, being beholden to no one.
Founded in 2018, Justice Jobs is a non-profit organization with two full time staff (see below), a full-time AmeriCorps Service Member who will be with us through August 1, 2023, two half-time office interns provided by Jewish Council on the Aging's SCESP program, two university interns who put in 26 hours/week, a part-time bookkeeper, an active and diverse volunteer board, and several volunteers who average a total of approx. 8 hrs/wk in 1:1 work with jobseekers in the Jobseeker Placement Program.
