Central Maryland YFC works together with a variety of local partners to create an environment for young people to gather in a safe, supportive community. Campus Life of CMYFC is an after school program where children can have fun, learn, and spend time with mentors and friends.
The $20,000 goal for participating in Unity Campaign will be used towards supporting these after-school clubs in five school districts.
In addition, Campus Life offers opportunity for our graduating middle school students to enroll in High School Leadership Training. Older youth will learn how to use their personal gifts as well as gain support of others with a team oriented approach.
One example is a student who has been invested for the past 6 years. As a child of a single parent who works third shift, she enjoyed the weekly club that was open to her regardless of income or parent involvement. During middle school this young lady found a place where she was valued and loved. Now, Campus Life high school leadership program provides a place where she continues to grow and give back to other students. Her unique experience makes her especially sensitive to other kids struggling as she did in 6th grade.
There are countless stories that are unique to every child we serve and are team with families and schools to provide kids with additional caring support systems while we draw them with super fun activities.
I am proud to be a partner with United Way through the Unity Campaign as we tackle some of these issues together; each organization having a special role and mission to complete in Frederick.
