Back-to-School Drive 2022

Back-to-school season can be a stressful time for many parents in our community. The cost of needed supplies can present a challenge for families who are struggling to make ends meet. This is an even greater obstacle for those experiencing homelessness. With prices increasing all around this year, these families need our help now more than ever.

In response to this need, United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region is hosting our annual Back-to-School drive to help students in our community. We need your help! Together we can ensure that students living in local homeless shelters have backpacks and supplies for the upcoming school year.

There are a few ways to get involved:

• Make a monetary donation and we will purchase needed supplies on your behalf.
• Create your own fundraising page as an individual or organization, set a personal goal and share with friends, family and colleagues.
• Set up a collection box at your location of choice.

To ensure supplies are available for distribution before the start of the school year, all monetary and physical donations are requested by August 19.

Physical donations can be dropped off at:

• United Way’s office (75 Market St, Poughkeepsie)
• Orange County Chamber of Commerce's office (924 Homestead Ave, Maybrook)
• Senator Sue Serino's office (4254 Albany Post Rd, Hyde Park)

Suitable educational tools are a key part of a child’s success in school, and no child should suffer academically because of their family’s financial situation. With your support, we can help so many students in our community start off the school year strong!
