I'm a crazy reader. If I don't have a book to read, I ..... well, I don't know. I ALWAYS have a book to read! And my love of reading started when I was young -- being read to, then growing to read out loud. Then finally, reading to myself with my nose stuck in a book for hours on end. So I am fundraising to support Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and our local libraries.

A donation of $25 gives a year's worth of age-appropriate books (one every month, delivered right to their door) to a child. I reached my original goal of $250 in a few days, so I bumped it up to $500! We have more than 500(!) kids on the waiting list-- we gotta do something about that! With school likely being chaotic this year, having fantastic books at home at their fingertips will be a wonderful treat for kids!

Reading is so important to children.

  • It increases their imagination and helps them learn.
  • Studies show that children who are read to when they are younger tend to receive higher grades throughout their education.
  • Studies have proven that increased family engagement in educational programs is linked with increases in child reading achievement and other academic successes.
  • Even just 15 minutes a day of independent reading can expose students to more than a million words of text in a year.

All dollars raised stay right here in Snyder, Union and Northumberland counties.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is a program that donates books to children from the ages 0-5 every month. In our area, we currently have about 290 children registered and over 300 children on a waiting list. For only $25 per child per year we can provide each of these children with this program.
